Team 2012-13: Famila Schio (Italy-A1)
Career: Umana Reyer Venezia (Italy-A1, 2004-11), Cras Taranto (Italy-A1, 2011-12), Famila Schio (Italy-A1, 2012-13)
One of the most exciting playmakers in European basketball, Sottana has the ability to take over games with MVP performances. She also has an eye for the spectacular with several clips on the highlights reel at the EuroLeague Women Final Eight earlier this year with Schio. She can score if she needs to, leading the team in points production during qualifying by driving the lane, making a jump-shot or knocking down a triple. However, her real talent revolves around her creative ability, evidenced by 3.9 assists-an-outing last summer. Her consistency was then re-enforced with the exact same number of assists-per-game in EuroLeague Women. The passes come with flare and she is a good ball handler, who rarely turns it over needlessly. Domestically, she is establishing herself into the top Italian star; and having won titles with Coach Ricchini in Taranto, she moved to arch rivals Schio and repeated the feat. She needs no instruction and perhaps isn't given due credit for her leadership. She first played at EuroBasket Women 2007 but an ACL injury sidelined her in 2009.
