Slovenia Blow Out Netherlands

Slovenia have reason to celebrate as the team won their first three games of the EuroBasket Women Qualification Round.

Slovenia continued their perfect start to the Qualification Round for EuroBasket Women 2013 by beating the Netherlands, 68-52.

In the Group C game played in Slovenske Konjice, the 2010 FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year Nika Baric had 18 points for the winners.

Slovenia trailed only briefly at the beginning of the contest but ended up taking a 19-7 lead by the end of the first quarter.

By half-time the result was beyond doubt as the hosts had a 42-14 advantage.

Slovenia shared the ball well and finished with 17 assists to just four for the Dutch, who fell to 0-2 with the setback.

Also reaching double figures in points for the Slovenians was Maja Erkic with 12 and Sandra Pirsic with 10.

Pirsic, who had five points in the opening frame when Slovenia took control for good, played on the Rivas Ecopolis side that surprised everyone in 2011-12 by making it to the EuroLeague women Final.

Slovenia's small forward Eva Komplet added nine points, six rebounds and three assists.
