| 14.07.2012 EUROBASKET WOMEN QUALIFIERS | | Ana Dabovic ended a remarkable campaign for Serbia by scoring 21 points against Estonia |
Serbia clinched their place in next year's EuroBasket Women with a 97-58 victory over Estonia on Saturday. The Blues improved to 6-2 with the victory - the same record as Montenegro and Poland in Group B. Montenegro finished first and Serbia second ahead of Poland by using a goal differential tie-breaker, taking into account the games between the three teams. Serbia moved into a strong position in their previous game when they won a thriller against the Poles, 67-62. That result left them only needing to win against Estonia, a side that hadn't tasted victory in seven previous Qualification Round games. Estonia led briefly at the start of the contest, but Serbia turned on the style and outscored them 30-15 in the opening frame and never turned back. Milica Dabovic had six of her 21 points in the first period for Serbia. Veteran power forward/center Jelena Maksimovic also scored 21 in the contest for the winners. |
