|Hungary handed Belarus their first loss, with Dora Horti being the team's top scorer with 15 points.|
Hungary hung on to edge out Belarus 62-59 to end the visitors' unbeaten run and close things up at the top of Group A in the EuroBasket Women Qualification Round.
The hosts held a 33-27 lead at half-time, and although Belarus rallied to pull level in the third quarter, they could never find a way to get in front and fell narrowly short of a fifth straight win.
Instead they drop to 4-1, just ahead of Hungary on 3-2.
Hungary jumped out to a 10-4 lead and led 16-7 on Anna Vida's jump-shot late in the first quarter.
Belarus battled their way back and were within two, 29-27 on Aliaksandra Tarasava's three-pointer with 1:48 left in the half, although she could not add the extra from the free-throw line after being fouled.
Instead, Dora Horti and Katalin Honti tacked on four extra points to Hungary's lead before the half-time buzzer.
It took until the 3:07 minutes mark in the third quarter for Belarus to pull level on Anastasiya Verameyenka's jump-shot, the first of four times they levelled the scores as the sides traded baskets, Belarus always one step behind.
Horti then gave Hungary a two-point edge going into the final quarter and they continued to slowly edge clear, the lead stretching to nine, 59-50, on a pair of free throws from Anna Vajda with 3:56 to go.
After Alexandria Quigley made it 62-57 to Hungary, Tatyana Troina came up empty with a three-pointer for Belarus, and a late jump-shot was too little too late for the visitors.
Horti led Hungary with 15 points while Quigley had 14 and Honti 12.
Troina had 20 points in the losing cause for Belarus, while Tarasava added 15 and Verameyenka 12.
