Switzerland used a fast start to see off winless Estonia 69-62 in Group B of the EuroBasket Women Qualification Round.
The hosts raced into a 24-8 lead at the mid-point of the first quarter, powered by 12 points in the first 4:30 from Sarah Kershaw, who had three three-pointers in the run.
And although they soon cooled off and allowed Estonia to claw back some of the lead, they never conceded it, even if they might be concerned at how close the group strugglers came to getting back into the game.
Estonia began the second quarter on an 11-2 run, with three-pointers from Jana Rannaveski, Merike Anderson and Kati Rausberg to make it 32-29 with 6:30 to go until half-time.
But they got no closer, and six straight points from Marielle Giroud had the Swiss comfortably out in front once again before the break.
Switzerland moved 15 points clear, 56-41, on Giroud's jump-host midway through the third quarter, but Estonia had one more rally in them and when Anderson hit a jump-shot 1:33 from the buzzer the lead was down to just two, 63-61.
Giroud and Karen Twehues then responded to hold off the Estonians and seal the win.
Twehues led the Swiss with 25 points while Giroud added 24. Kershaw never added to her 12 early points.
Triin Teppo led Estonia with 18 points while Anderson added 16.
