| 27.06.2012 EUROBASKET WOMEN QUALIFIERS Sweden hit back from an early deficit to beat Germany and move back into first place in Group D of the EuroBasket Women Qualification Round. Frida Eldebrink remained red hot, pouring in 21 points for the Swedes as they improved to 3-1. Both Sweden and a team they have beaten, Spain, are 3-1. Germany slumped to 2-2 with the setback. The visitors led by eight points in the first quarter but weren't able to add to the advantage. Instead, Sweden fought back and went in front to stay with a 10-0 run to start the second half. Louice Halvarsson and Kadidja Andersson ignited the decisive spurt with jump shots. Germany, who got 19 points from Anne Breitreiner, stayed within striking distances but got no closer than four points the rest of the way. The Swedes did a lot of their damage at the free-throw line, making 19 of 23 (82.6%) compared to Germany's five of 16 (31.3%). The Germans were also hurt by their 25 turnovers. |
