| 11 July 2012 EUROBASKET WOMEN QUALIFIERS | | Lucia Kupcikova and the Slovak Republic overcame a slow start in the Qualification Round to punch their ticket to France |
The Slovak Republic punched their ticket to next year's EuroBasket women in France with a 66-51 victory at the Netherlands. Ivan Vojtko's side won for the sixth time in seven games and can now clinch first place if they win their last game in Group C at home to Slovenia. The Netherlands conjured up memories of their upset of Slovenia last week with a brilliant start on Wednesday against the Slovakians. The Dutch opened up a 13-8 lead when Naomi Halman scored with a lay-up. Lucia Kupcikova, who had a game-high 20 points, drilled a jumper to spark a 13-0 run that put Slovakia in front for good. The visitors led by as many as 24 points before winning by 15. |
