Belarus bounced straight back from their only loss of the campaign with a comfortable 63-41 home win against Portugal to move back to the top of EuroBasket Women Qualification Round Group A.

Rimantas Grigas and his players were briefly dethroned by Ukraine but moved back to the top of the table again with their fifth win in six games.

This was also the second success of the summer against a Portugal team struggling to compete in a tough situation and still searching for that elusive first win.

Fans in Minsk were treated to some neat work on the glass from Anastasiya Verameyeneka and Nataliya Trafimava who in tandem managed to corral an impressive 24 rebounds.

Portugal competed well for the most part and made a fist of things right up until the final quarter, when they eventually faded.

21-year-old Sofia Da Silva finished with a respectable 15 points for the losing team while arguably the ‘X-factor' in the contest was a dynamic contribution from Tatsiana Likhtarovic who didn't miss a single shot when slashing to the basket or taking jump shots inside on her way to 13 points.

Belarus can finish the job this weekend if they can manage to win in Israel.
