EUROBASKET WOMEN QUALIFIERS

Sabine Niedola (Latvia)
21-year-old Sabine Niedola came up on Wednesday with one of her best performances with the senior Latvia team

Sabine Niedola produced her best performance of the summer to lead Latvia to a resounding 70-44 home win against EuroBasket Women Qualification Round Group E minnows Luxembourg.

Latvia continue edging ever closer to cementing a qualifying spot.

The forward not only harvested a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, but also managed to avoid any turnovers in an impressive display, supported by frontcourt team-mates Liene Jansone and Zane Tamane.

Indeed it was the superior inside presence of the home team who destroyed Luxembourg in the paint.

Latvia pulled down a mammoth 59 rebounds.

The visitors always had an uphill struggle to challenge heading into the game, but that quickly became something of a mountain after being on the wrong end of a 20-9 opening quarter.

Nadia Mossong was the only player to achieve double-digits for Luxembourg with 14 points, while Latvia know wins in Greece and Finland during their last remaining games would send them to France next year.
