The United States defeated France 86-50 in the gold medal game of the Olympics on Saturday night.
Candace Parker, a standout player with UMMC Ekaterinburg, scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the first half for the United States as they built a 37-25 lead.
They put the result beyond doubt with a 15-7 run in the first five minutes of the second half.
The loss was the first of the London Games for France, the bronze-medal winners of EuroBasket Women 2011.
"I thought the French team was the team of the tournament, the way they played consistently from day one all the way through to the final," USA coach Geno Auriemma said.
France won the EuroBasket Women title in 2009.
"It took a lot of work to get here," France veteran Edwige Lawson-Wade said.
"It wasn't just a week of playing good basketball.
"It was month after month, two years of working, four years of working hard - a whole career, really."
France will host next year's EuroBasket Women.
