It was not all basketball during Latvia's preparations for EuroBasket Women 2011.
In Riga, members of the team joined a campaign under the name "Pārbaudies, lai dzīvotu!" (Test yourself to live), which aims to make the public aware of the fight against breast cancer.
The key participants in this campaign were FIBA Hall of Fame member and Olympic Champion Uljana Semjonova, senior national team captain Gunta Basko and her teammates Zane Tamane and Liene Jansone.
The colour and the logo of the campaign were pink - a pink ribbon is the symbol of breast cancer awareness.
For several weeks the players participated in events aiming at increasing awareness around the issue, including a 600-strong march through the streets of the Latvian capital to the city main arena.
