Poland Lower The Boom In Q4

27 June 2012

Poland won for the third time in four EuroBasket Women Qualification Round games on Wednesday, beating hosts Switzerland 62-45.

The visitors had a real fight on their hands in the Group B encounter until the fourth quarter, when they put the clamps on the Swiss and held them to just five points.

Jacek Winnicki, the coach of Poland, watched his side score 20 points over the last 10 minutes as they recorded a win that has kept them on track for next year's Final Round in France.

Poland's 23-year-old Agnieszka Skobel had 18 points while Joanna Walich scored 13 and grabbed eight rebounds.

The 1.74m guard Weronika Idczak also came up big for Poland with 12 points, five assists and five boards.

Poland dominated the Swiss on the boards, out-rebounding them 38-23.

Switzerland fell to 1-3 with the defeat.
