Nora Nagy-Bujdosó led Hungary with 18 points.

Hungary were decisive winners at home against Portugal on Wednesday as Stefan Svitek claimed his first victory as coach in the EuroBasket Women Qualification Round.

Narrowly beaten at Belarus in their first game a week ago, Hungary blew away the Portuguese in Group A, 80-45.

Nora Nagy-Bujdosó, the team's 26-year-old forward, had 18 points and sharpshooter Alexandria Quigley poured in 17 points.

Nagy-Bujdosó was two of three from long range and seven of 11 from the floor overall.

Quigley, 26, is a naturalized player from the United States who played in the 2011 EuroLeague Women All-Star Game as a representative of MiZo-Pecs.

She made six of her 11 shots from the floor and also grabbed nine rebounds.

When Kata Honti, a EuroLeague Women winner with Ros Casares in 2011-12, buried a jumper 31 seconds into the contest for the first points of the contest, Hungary had the lead for good.

Honti followed with two free-throws and Quigley had a three-point play to make it 7-0.

The Hungarians outscored Portugal 23-12 in the quarter and after leading 34-25 at half-time, Svitek's team lowered the boom.

The Portuguese defense disappeared as Hungary scored 30 points in the third quarter for a 64-39 lead.

Portugal have now lost three games by big margins.

Ukraine beat them 92-38 and Belarus won against them, 82-53.
